| The Sydney Metropolitan Baseball League operates baseball competitions across the Sydney basin. The Sydney Metropolitan League came into being when the NSW Baseball League abandoned the NSW Metro League competition in 2003. It is an Independent League, and is not currently affiliated with Baseball NSW nor with the Australian Baseball Federation. Individual membership is only available through clubs or Leagues. Club Membership is payable in April and is open to all Clubs and Leagues in the Sydney area. Coverage is for a twelve month season so any player who is registered in a winter season has free membership in the following summer season in clubs playing within the Sydney Metropolitan League umbrella. Membership fees are $250 per club and $30.00 per player annually. The fee for full time students under the age of eighteen is $20.00. GST is not applicable. These fees include insurance coverage as detailed elsewhere on this site but generally cover clubs and their players for Public Liability, Capital Benefits, Medical and Accident and Loss of Income. In response to recent enquiries we need to advise that Associations or Leagues who wish to discuss access to Sydney Metro's insurance coverage should contact us. There is provision for Regional or Associated members of the League to operate with their own constitutions and sets of rules. Competitions exist for all levels of player from A grade to H grade. Although we do not conduct competitions at the elite level we recall the words of a former Commissioner of NSW Baseball: We need to have PRIDE ... We need to have PASSION ... ... and then we will have PERFORMANCE. | ||||||
